My weigh-in on Sunday morning was 69.4 - up by 1.4kgs! This is a major disaster, my bridesmaid dress in 2 weeks time may be a bit snug!!
Of course, that weight was taken at TTOM, after a night of drinking and some very salty food when I got home, so it may not be accurate, but still, my pants feel snug!
So, I am going to blog every day this week, and follow the following rules.
- no alcohol
- no chocolate
- No off plan snacks.
yesterday I did very well for exercise, I ran a couple of kms to go pick up my car from where I left it the night before, then did an aerobics DVD in my living room.
Unfortunately I had a few drinks in the afternoon and ate quite a lot of bread. Why? Just cause I like bread and it was there.
Today I have started great, rode my bike to work and did some extra running on the treadmill. Tonight will be hard as I am having all my high school friends over and we are going out for dinner, but I am determined! I will order the chicken salad, forgo the nibblies beforehand and the garlic bread, and I will definitely not be drinking! I will simply remind myself that I am there to enjoy the company, not the food!!
Fingers crossed!

Losing weight while spending significant amounts of time with a guy is HARD!! The particular guy I’m spending time with is probably not as bad as many, since he does make an effort to eat well and exercise. In fact, one gret thing is that we have been enjoying exercising together, which is a new thing for me, I’ve always exercised alone.
BUT - a big problem is that two people’s moments of weakness will not always co-incide. And they’ll usually drag you down with them, which means that you’ve basically doubled your moments of weakness!
I have no experience with this sort of thing, so I have no strategies to deal with it. Gonna have to work on that.
I seem to be maintaining though, so overall I’m OK with it, I’m sure I’ll get back on track soon as long as I don’t stray too far from it!

One of my best readers is a very good friend of mine, let’s call her Dr P :) She always reads my blogs and comments on my updates. That kind of support is the best kind of motivation to keep on with both the weight loss and blogging. Not only that but she’s also recently taken off her last few pesky winter kilos just in time for summer, not to mention that she’s about to complete a very difficult course of study in medicine! So a big thankyou, congratulations and good for you babe!!
Anyway, the point of this post is that a recent email from Dr P got me thinking about how much things have changed in the last few years. I first met Dr P in late 2003, on a very exciting trip overseas where we were both working on a pretty cool project. Sometime in that first busy, exciting week, I told Dr P this;
“I don’t run, and I don’t clean!”
And I truly believed it. I hated to run. It HURT. I thought it hurt like that for everyone, so why did other people bother? Turns out it only hurt like that for me, and those other unfortunates with compartment syndrome. Now it doesn’t hurt anymore, and I love to run.
I also hated to clean. Actually, I still hate to clean, but now my desire for my new home to be nice and presentable actually overpowers my dislike of cleaning. Much like my desire for a healthy, attractive body overpowers my desire for unhealthy food…
So yeah, things change. And defining yourself with absolute statements like “I don’t” “I can’t”, “I’m just not” and all those other limiting statements we make (and believe) everyday is never a good idea, because it will just hold you back from allowing those changes to happen. So next time you catch yourself defining who you are with words, stop and think if that is really who you want to be, because being the opposite might just make you a lot happier!

What with moving into my new home and being all involved in a new relationship, not only have I not been posting much, I haven’t thought a whole lot about my weight at all in the last few weeks!
Despite that, and quite a few more treats that usual, I seem to be maintaining my weight, at least according to the scales on Sunday morning.
My new guy, K, is luckily very active, and all the walks, jogs and bike rides have definitly helped with my weight maintenance.
Pretty soon though I’ll be needing to make a propoer effort to take of a couple more kilos, for my sisters wedding in just over a month!
